Towing Calls We Get in Bartonville
Bartonville is US 24, I-474 and a lot of hills, with the airport just north. US 24 comes in as South Adams Street. Where Adams starts climbing, US 24 peels off onto McKinley Avenue and meets Adams again just south of the I-474 interchange. From there, I-474 jumps the river to Creve Coeur on the Shade-Lohmann Bridge. Short town, steep roads.
- Hill stalls: all-wheel-drive cars and pickups that quit on the Adams Street climb, carried down with flatbed towing
- Creek bottom mud: cars that slid off near the Kickapoo Creek bottomlands, pulled out with winch-out service
- Airport trips: dead batteries and flats for travelers back from Peoria International Airport, fixed with roadside assistance
- I-474 crashes: wrecks at the interchange or on the bridge approach, cleared with accident towing
- Plant traffic: work vans and box trucks near the steel and wire plant, moved with medium-duty towing
The Adams Street Hill in Winter
The Adams Street hill is where US 24 splits onto McKinley Avenue before the two meet again south of I-474. Give it an inch of ice and cars lose grip going up or slide coming down. We've pulled cars off that curb and out of the grass beside it more winters than we can count.
If you're stuck there, stop spinning the tires. It only digs you in and polishes the ice. Hazards on, then call and tell us Adams or McKinley, uphill or down. If it drives fine once it's pulled free, you drive it home. No tow, no tow bill.
Types of Towing We Offer in Bartonville
Bartonville is small, but its hills, creek bottoms and interstate keep our trucks busy there. Every car gets photos of all four sides before we touch it, which we've done on every call since 2009. Here's what we do in town, starting with what the hills hand us most.
Winch-Out Service in the Kickapoo Creek Bottoms
A winch-out moves a car that left the road back onto solid ground. The Barton family's old land took in the Illinois River and Kickapoo Creek bottomlands, and low ground like that goes soft after a rain. Our drivers wrap soft straps around the wheels or the tow points instead of hooking the frame, so the pull doesn't bend a thing. Slow pull, no damage.
Flatbed Towing for AWD Cars on the Hill
An all-wheel-drive car shouldn't be towed with two wheels on the road. Doing it is like riding a tandem bike when the back rider grabs the brakes: the front keeps pulling and the middle takes the beating. On a hill it's worse. A flatbed carries the whole car, so nothing turns. Same price as a regular tow, or up to $25 more.
Roadside Assistance Near Peoria International Airport
The airport sits on Bartonville's northwest edge, and a car left in a lot for a week in January may just click when you get back. Jumper cables need a second car. Our jump box doesn't, and it rides on every flatbed with a jack, soft straps, wheel skates and a lockout kit. Got a flat? A donut spare is good to about 50 mph and short trips only, so we'll point you to a tire shop.
Accident Towing on I-474
I-474 is the 14.88-mile southern bypass around Peoria, and it runs right through Bartonville. Crashes on it leave cars in fast lanes. Scott's Law tells passing drivers to move over or slow down for flashing lights, and a first violation costs $250 to $10,000. Even so, our driver sets up the scene before anyone loads a car. Safety first, then the hook.
Medium-Duty Towing Near Keystone
Keystone Steel & Wire grew from Peter Sommer's 1889 wire fence business, and the area around it still sees work vans and box trucks every day. A medium-duty tow truck handles vehicles from about 14,000 to 26,000 pounds. Semis need a heavy-duty wrecker, which we don't run.
How Much Does a Tow in Bartonville Cost?
A tow inside Bartonville usually costs $95 to $150 in 2026. The trip from Bartonville to a downtown Peoria repair shop is about 6 road miles, so it costs about $95 to $155, depending on whether it goes past the miles the hook-up covers. Winch-outs run $120 to $250.
| Service | Typical 2026 price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tow inside Bartonville | $95 to $150 | Hook-up plus first 5 to 7 miles |
| Bartonville to a Peoria shop | $95 to $155 | About 6 road miles |

Veterans and first responders get a discount, and Bartonville has plenty of both: the 182d Airlift Wing is next door and the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company is stationed in the village.
Old Mines, River Bottoms and the Shade-Lohmann Bridge
Bartonville voted itself a village in 1903 by four votes, 114 to 110, and had 5,945 people in 2020. Coal paid the bills here from 1895 to 1954. The village's own history says the hills are honeycombed with old shafts and drifts. As a former mechanic, Wes notices what that does to roads that dip and settle: struts and tie rods wear early.
About 0.43 square miles of the village is water, and the low ground by the river and the creek stays soggy well into spring. The Shade-Lohmann Bridge takes I-474 and US 24 over the river to Creve Coeur, next to the Peoria Lock and Dam. It got a rebuild from April 2017 to November 2018 that cost $13.5 million.
NOAA's weather station for the whole Peoria area sits at the airport, right on the village's edge. It puts the normal January low at 17.6 degrees and the snow at about 26 inches a year, so Bartonville's cold mornings are measured almost in its own backyard. Those mornings, the jump box earns its spot on the truck.
About one in five residents is 65 or older, and a lot of our Bartonville calls come from a son or daughter setting up help for a parent. That's fine. We can tow without the owner there if we have access and the paperwork. We also cover towing in Peoria Heights, up on the bluff north of downtown.

Bartonville Tow Truck and Roadside Questions
Getting a Tow Truck Bartonville Drivers Can Count On
Call any hour with the street and the nearest cross street. On I-474, your direction and the closest exit will do. You'll get the price and an ETA before the truck leaves.
Roadside Assistance Bartonville Residents Use
Jump starts lead in winter, lockouts the rest of the year. Batteries in cars 6 to 10 years old fail the most, so if yours is that age, expect to meet us on a cold morning.
Accident Towing: Bartonville, IL Interchange Crashes
If nobody is hurt and the car can move, Illinois law says to get it out of the lane. If it can't, stay in the car, call 911 and then call us.
Why Peoria Drivers Call Peoria Premier Towing
We're a small family crew with six trucks, and we'd rather keep a customer for twenty years than make an extra $40 on one tow. Here is what that looks like on a call.
Towing in Peoria Since 2009
Wes bought his first rollback in 2009 after eleven years wrenching on trucks. The crew still works off the same rule: fix it on the spot if we can, tow it right if we can't.
Tow Prices Quoted Before We Roll
Think of the menu taped in a diner window: you know what breakfast costs before you sit down. You hear one number on the phone, and that's the bill.
Flatbed Tow Trucks for AWD and Electric Cars
Four of our six trucks are flatbeds. Your all-wheel drive, electric or lowered car rides on the deck with all four wheels off the road.
We answer every hour of every day. During a storm the wait gets longer for everyone, so we tell you the real number and text if it moves.
Damage-Free Towing With Photos
Soft straps on the wheels, never chains on the frame, and photos of all four sides before we load. You get the pictures if you want them.
About one call in four ends with a jump, a spare or a few gallons of gas. If that's all you need, that's all you pay for.
What Peoria Drivers Say About Our Towing
A few notes customers sent after the truck left.
Tasha W., East Bluff
Battery died in the hospital parking garage after a night shift. They told me the price on the phone, showed up when they said, and had me running in ten minutes. No tow, no upsell.
Mike and Jen D., Washington
Our AWD minivan quit on I-74. The driver explained why it had to go on the flatbed instead of being dragged, took pictures of the whole van and had it at our mechanic before he opened.
Carlos R., Pekin
Slid into the ditch on a snowy back road. They pulled me out with a winch, checked my tires and steering and I drove home. Cost less than I was ready to pay.
Ashley K., Peoria Heights
Locked my keys in the car with the engine running and my dog inside. They got there fast and opened the door without a mark on it. Very kind about the whole thing.
Dan F., Morton
We run four box trucks and they handle every breakdown. One call, one invoice at the end of the month, and the trucks show up at our shop in one piece.
Brenda S., Bartonville
Rear-ended on Adams Street. They cleaned up the road, held my car in storage for two days while insurance sorted it out and helped me get my things out of the trunk.
Bartonville Towing FAQs
How quickly can you get to Bartonville?
Bartonville is about 6 road miles from downtown Peoria by Adams Street or I-474, so it's a short run for our trucks. Snow on the hill and interstate traffic can add time. Dispatch tells you an honest ETA when you call and texts you if it changes.
What does a tow from Bartonville to a Peoria shop cost?
About $95 to $155 in 2026. The trip is roughly 6 road miles, and the hook-up price covers the first 5 to 7, so most tows stay close to the base price. A flatbed for an all-wheel-drive car can add up to $25. The price is set before we dispatch.
Can you pick up my car at Peoria International Airport?
Yes. The airport sits on Bartonville's northwest edge, and we can jump a car, change a tire or tow from the parking lots at any hour. Tell us the lot and the row number. A car that sat through a cold snap usually just needs a jump, and that runs $65 to $95.
Can I arrange a tow for my parent's car without them there?
Yes. With access to the car and the right paperwork, like the registration and a signed note from your parent, the owner doesn't need to be there. About 20 percent of Bartonville residents are 65 or older, so we set these up with sons and daughters a lot. We'll text you photos.
Stuck Somewhere Around Peoria? We Answer Every Hour.
Tell us where you are and what the car is doing. You get a price and an honest ETA before a truck leaves the yard, day or night.
