Towing Calls We Get in Dunlap
Dunlap sits about 15 miles north of downtown Peoria, at the rural top end of our map. IL 91 gets you there. It starts at US 150 on Peoria's far northwest edge, runs past The Shoppes at Grand Prairie, and then goes nothing but straight north or straight east, with square turns in between. The IL 6 freeway is off to the east.
- Square-corner slides: cars that slid off the right-angle turns on IL 91 in snow, pulled out with a winch-out
- School-run batteries: SUVs that won't start on a cold school morning, fixed with roadside assistance
- New cars, new rules: AWD SUVs and electric cars that need flatbed towing
- Freeway crashes: wrecks near the IL 6 interchanges, cleared with accident towing
- Moves and dealer trips: cars headed to another city, sent with long-distance towing
The Square Corners on IL 91
IL 91 only knows two directions, north-south and east-west, so every change is a right angle. Come into one of those corners too fast on snow and the car keeps going straight, into the ditch. Every winter we pull a few out of the same corners. The Rock Island Trail runs beside much of the road, so walkers and bikes share the edge in good weather.
In winter, brake early for the corners, before the turn. If you go off anyway, stay in the car with the hazards on and call us. Give us the nearest crossroad or a mile marker, since one stretch of dark road looks like the next. That gets the truck to the right ditch.
Types of Towing We Offer in Dunlap
Dunlap is rural, so the calls out there don't look like the ones in town. Wes has been running trucks up IL 91 since 2009, and the pattern holds: snow, cold batteries, new cars. Here's what we do there, starting with snow season.
Winch-Out Service on Rural Roads
The Peoria area gets about 8 days a year with an inch or more of new snow, and open roads around Dunlap drift over fast. A winch-out moves a car from the ditch or a snowbank back onto the road with the winch on our truck. It costs $120 to $250 in 2026. If the car drives fine afterward, you drive it. We'd rather do that than sell you a tow you don't need.
Jump Start Service for School Mornings
Almost half of Dunlap households have kids, and a dead battery at 7 a.m. wrecks the whole morning. Carrying a jump box is like owning your own ladder instead of borrowing the neighbor's: no second car, no waiting. Jumper cables can't say that. Cars 6 to 10 years old have the most battery trouble, so test that battery in the fall.
Flatbed Towing for New SUVs and EVs
Newer homes around Dunlap mean newer cars, and lots of them are all-wheel drive or electric. Both ride on a flatbed with all four wheels off the road. Cold hits EVs hard, too: AAA found that at 20 degrees with the heater on, average range drops 41 percent. We've hauled a few that ran out of charge between Dunlap and the IL 6 ramps.
Accident Towing Near the IL 6 Interchanges
The IL 6 freeway on Peoria's north edge carries heavy traffic, and new building keeps creeping out around its interchanges. Out here, the Peoria County Sheriff handles crashes. Call police right away if anyone is hurt or the damage is over $1,500. Scott's Law tells passing drivers to move over for our lights. Once the scene is clear, we photograph the car on all four sides and tow it wherever you want it.
Long-Distance Towing: Dunlap, IL Families on the Move
Dunlap's population nearly doubled from 926 in 2000 to 1,603 in 2020, and families moving in or out sometimes need a car hauled. Long-distance tows run $3 to $5 per loaded mile in 2026, on a flatbed. We strap every wheel, photograph the car and give you the whole trip total on the phone, so the moving budget has one less surprise.
What It Costs to Tow From Dunlap

A Rural Village on Peoria's Growing Edge
Dunlap was established as a town on June 12, 1871, and petitioned to incorporate as a village in 1952. It's tiny: 0.54 square miles and 16 blocks, with a handful of businesses. The census counts every resident as rural, even as Peoria's growth spreads toward it. Small as the village is, the roads in and out of it carry a lot more than village traffic.
Dunlap CUSD 323 covers the far north and northwest of Peoria: Dunlap High School, two middle schools and five elementary schools. That puts a lot of buses and parents on IL 91 twice a day. The Dunlap Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad has served the village since 1899, longer than the village has existed on paper.
Most of the growth sits just south of the village, around The Shoppes at Grand Prairie where IL 91 begins. Traffic there mostly heads to the stores or on up to Dunlap, and the lots fill on weekends. Snow is the bigger story: about 26 inches a year, and with so much open land around, wind pushes it back across the road after the plows go by.
With 597 homes and almost none empty, Dunlap is the kind of place where folks know their neighbors. But on a rural road at night, the nearest help can still be miles off, and that's when our phone rings. We also cover towing in West Peoria, on the other side of the city along Farmington Road.

Dunlap Tow Truck and Roadside Questions
Where to Meet the Tow Truck: Dunlap, IL Back Roads
Country roads all look alike in the dark. A crossroad name, a mile marker, or how far you went after the last turn on IL 91 is what gets our driver to you fastest.
Roadside Assistance Dunlap Families Use
Jump starts, lockouts in the lots at The Shoppes at Grand Prairie, flat tires, and a can of fuel when the gauge lied. Each runs $65 to $95, and none needs a tow.
Snow Towing Around Dunlap
When a car can't be driven after a slide, we tow it on a flatbed to a Peoria shop or back home. Snowy nights are busy, so we give honest ETAs.
Why Peoria Drivers Call Peoria Premier Towing
We're a small family crew with six trucks, and we'd rather keep a customer for twenty years than make an extra $40 on one tow. Here is what that looks like on a call.
Towing in Peoria Since 2009
Wes bought his first rollback in 2009 after eleven years wrenching on trucks. The crew still works off the same rule: fix it on the spot if we can, tow it right if we can't.
Tow Prices Quoted Before We Roll
Think of the menu taped in a diner window: you know what breakfast costs before you sit down. You hear one number on the phone, and that's the bill.
Flatbed Tow Trucks for AWD and Electric Cars
Four of our six trucks are flatbeds. Your all-wheel drive, electric or lowered car rides on the deck with all four wheels off the road.
We answer every hour of every day. During a storm the wait gets longer for everyone, so we tell you the real number and text if it moves.
Damage-Free Towing With Photos
Soft straps on the wheels, never chains on the frame, and photos of all four sides before we load. You get the pictures if you want them.
About one call in four ends with a jump, a spare or a few gallons of gas. If that's all you need, that's all you pay for.
What Peoria Drivers Say About Our Towing
A few notes customers sent after the truck left.
Tasha W., East Bluff
Battery died in the hospital parking garage after a night shift. They told me the price on the phone, showed up when they said, and had me running in ten minutes. No tow, no upsell.
Mike and Jen D., Washington
Our AWD minivan quit on I-74. The driver explained why it had to go on the flatbed instead of being dragged, took pictures of the whole van and had it at our mechanic before he opened.
Carlos R., Pekin
Slid into the ditch on a snowy back road. They pulled me out with a winch, checked my tires and steering and I drove home. Cost less than I was ready to pay.
Ashley K., Peoria Heights
Locked my keys in the car with the engine running and my dog inside. They got there fast and opened the door without a mark on it. Very kind about the whole thing.
Dan F., Morton
We run four box trucks and they handle every breakdown. One call, one invoice at the end of the month, and the trucks show up at our shop in one piece.
Brenda S., Bartonville
Rear-ended on Adams Street. They cleaned up the road, held my car in storage for two days while insurance sorted it out and helped me get my things out of the trunk.
Dunlap Towing FAQs
How far out is a tow truck from Dunlap?
Dunlap is about 15 road miles from downtown Peoria, so the drive takes longer than for towns across the river. How long you wait depends on where our nearest truck is and the road conditions. Dispatch gives you an honest ETA on the phone and texts you if it changes.
What does a tow from Dunlap to a Peoria shop cost?
About $130 to $210 in 2026. The hook-up covers the first 5 to 7 of the roughly 15 miles, and the rest costs $4 to $6 a mile. A flatbed for an all-wheel-drive car or EV can add up to $25. We tell you the total before the truck leaves.
Will you come out to a rural road near Dunlap at night?
Yes, any hour, any day of the week. Out on a rural road, give us the nearest crossroad or a mile marker, because landmarks are scarce after dark. If you're off the road, stay in the car with the hazards on. Dispatch will text you if the ETA shifts on the way up.
After a crash near Dunlap, do I call the sheriff or a tow truck first?
The sheriff comes first if anyone is hurt or the damage looks like more than $1,500, since Illinois law requires a police report then. The Peoria County Sheriff covers Dunlap. Call us right after that. And if nobody is hurt and the car still moves, get it out of the lane.
